Virginia Cooperative Extension develops and supports new discoveries, ideas, products, and services in natural resources and the environment. Pressures on land and natural resources are increasing and demand keeps growing for natural resource products, services, and improved environmental quality. Ecosystems have become increasingly fragmented for the production of food and forest products. Virginia forests are quite diverse and the total impact of forestry-related industries is over $23 billion. Extension programs strengthen the capacity to address critical environmental priorities and contribute to improved air, soil, and water quality; sustainable use and management of forests, fish, wildlife, and watersheds; as well as other renewable natural resources.
